Nebraska ASCD prides itself on being kid-focused in our approach to teaching and learning. We are investing in the Whole Child. ASCD's focus on the Whole Child is also our focus.Let's ensure all our children are:
Healthy - Students are routinely screened for immunizations
for vision, hearing, dental, and orthopedic
concerns.
Physical education and health classes emphasize
lifetime healthy behaviors.
Safe - Students, school staff, and family members
establish and maintain behavioral expectations,
rules, and routines.
Families are welcomed by school staff as partners
in their children's education.
Engaged - Every student has teachers who use active
learning strategies.
Every student has a chance to participate in a
wide variety of extra-curriculum activities.
Every student has opportunities to participate in
community-based apprenticeships.
Supported - Every student has an adult mentor or advisor
as a role model and has access to school
counselors or other support systems.
Challenged - Every student has access to a well-rounded
curriculum and has multiple ways for meeting
graduation requirements.
Healthful food choices are available at school.
Schools have a health advisory council that
includes students, family members, and
representatives from the community.
